Hear it, Read it, Make it, Love it.

Go for it buddy!!
Friday... Frrriidaaay.... FRRRIIIDAAAYYY!!! Woooo!!! The sun is shining, the air is crisp and in a few short hours it will be the weekend. Hellz to the yes. Here to send you off into the gloriousness of a summer Saturday and Sunday, is the next installment of Hear it, Read it, Make it, Love it... because any time I stumble across new things that make me merry, I can't wait to share them with all of you:) See you Monday!!

* Hear It
Hear it - Nothing blurred about that!
By now we've ALL heard the summer jam "Blurred Lines" by Robin Thicke featuring T.I. and Pharrell (and have you seen the uncensored music video!? Hubba hubba!!) but this past Tuesday the entire Blurred Lines album dropped and I am in lurve. The solid dose of R&B pop from the usually rhythm and blues focused crooner will have you bopping in your car and dancing on the beach. Rolling Stone agrees, giving the album 4.5 (of 5) stars, so get your download on NOW! (ps- did you know that Robin Thicke is the son of Alan Thicke, the Dad from Growing Pains!? True story!)

* Read It
Read it.
Last month my book club nailed it again when we selected The Kitchen House by Kathleen Grissom. This historical fiction novel tells the tale of a young girl, orphaned while on board  a ship from Ireland, who is brought to a tobacco plantation and raised by the help (in "the kitchen house") in the pre-civil war south. The suspenseful story of how their lives unfold reads quickly enough for summer, but is meaty enough to feel substantive. I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of this book and like the best stories, was sad to leave the characters behind when it was over.

* Make It
Make it
This one is so easy we're all going to have to give it a try. Supposedly by just hanging a bundle of fresh eucalyptus leaves under our shower heads we're going to be aromatherap-ized into a state of bliss. The scent of eucalyptus oil supposedly will clear the mind and reduce swelling in ours mucus membranes. Let's try it!

* Love It
LOVE love LOVE it.
If you don't subscribe to streaming Netflix (only $7.99 a month!) you are now officially REALLY missing out. Not only was their first original series House of Cards truly outstanding, but their latest show Orange is the New Black (from the creator of Weeds) is sheer brilliance. Based on a true story of a waspy 30-something whose reckless, lesbian, post-college crime sends her to a women's prison 10 years later, the show is funny, dark, emotional and addictively watchable. Perfectly cast and excellent for filling the void in summer programming, Orange is the New Black is a show you should be watching! (and for those of you already in on the brilliance, here are 23 awesome facts about the show that will blow ya mind... can you say Patty Mayonnaise?!)
