Hump Day Distractions

Good for you man.
So it's gonna be one of thooooose days is it? One of those subway isn't running, forgot my sunglasses, run in my tights kind of Wednesdays!? Well la-di-freakin-da! With barely more than 48 hours standing between me and a long weekend getaway to Miami (bienvenido a Miami!!) it's gonna take more than an office fire drill right after arriving to throw me off my game!! Let's hump it, shall we?

* When it comes to travel, I think it's important to always have a wish list on hand.
* The French sure do know how to make things sound naughty don't they!?
* So what you're saying is I'm plus'er than plus size now eh?
* Spotting one of THESE in public would absolutely make my day.
* If only more companies were willing to go to such lengths to make work/life balance more manageable for employees.
* Do you drink wine? If so, this is EXTREMELY VITAL INFORMATION.
* "I am running away because you think I farted when I didn't. PS you are mean." and other kid brilliance.
* So what you're saying is that Brooklyn has always been an awesome place to live?
* We all need more 30-minute meals in our life.
* A few hide-and-seek fails to bring a smile to your face.

Hump Day Distractions

HAHAHAHA!
A very merry Wednesday to all of you my friends! I'm feeling especially cheery today thanks to some exciting developments here in blog land. First, the infamous Ann Marie Slaughter of recent Why Women Still Can't Have it All fame "favorited" my tweet about THIS post the other night, which means she read it and even better, she liked it! Be still my aspiring writer heart:) And yesterday brought record breaking traffic to SeektobeMerry meaning more people than ever before stopped by the site!! I guess yous just needed to find a little joy(Big thanks to my fabulous Sis-in-Law for the shout out!) And as if that wasn't enough, I have some very exciting new content news in the works for you... It's all just very merry stuff. Anyways... you're probably all "good for you Mer, get to the distractions," so, without further adieu - here's a whole bunch just for you! Happy Humping:)

* "Don't lick my arm, that's what weird kids do" and other brilliantly illustrated kid quotes from one hip Dad.
* What a brilliant way to test out a new NYC neighborhood before buying
* Bath time for baby sloths. Even more adorable than you're imagining.
* A cat/dog love story.
* Heaven is a salad that actually looks delicious.
* Maybe this time the odds will be ever in her favor!?! (Yaaaaaaaay!)
* And while we're watching trailers, the brilliant Christopher Guest has something for you.
* Another perspective on the women/work/home/balance debate. Why going back to the home kinda rocks...
* Why can't we see ourselves as beautifully as others do? (and THIS brilliant response to the ad)
* In case you are interested in how to create the most realistic T-Rex noises
* Cannot believe I left THIS awesome show off my "What we're watching" post! When a show is on your dvr and the soundtrack is on your iPod, the execs must be doing something right!
* Mmmm boozy summer bike rides (or ditch the food, bring just the vino) (via ExPress-o)
* If I had a dog, I would definitely dress him up.

Refresh, recharge, reboot(ing).

The wonton soup Gods are so in tune with who I am.
Well hello hello. It's been a while, but I'm back from vacation-land and I hope you enjoyed your F.I.T.S. of merriment while I was gone. I spent my days smelling the fresh Maine air, biking, kayaking, hiking, lovin on my family (to whom I am, as the fortune cookie says, "deeply attached") and as promised, eating copious amounts of lobster (whole, rolls, omelets, mac cheese, salads). It was out of control awesome. Now however, it's back to work, and instead of my usual iced coffee tomorrow morning, I think I need a to go cup like THIS:

Brilliant. Totally, F'ing BRILLIANT.
It's gonna be a rough one, (may-jah ho hums!) but I'm confident that by tomorrow I will find my footing back here in this strange place called "reality" (eww). In the mean time, you admire this adorable little girl and her hedgehog friend:

Hedgehogs. So hot right now.

And I'll focus on Peter Pan's key to flight:

Get me some pixie dust

A plan to make NO plans!

The holidays are over, my hubby is home, I’m finally not sick and I am not going out of town. My plan for this weekend is to have NO plans... Ahhhh. Feels good. But...

I’m a do-er and a planner at heart. No plans means I have the freedom to MAKE plans and there are so many things to choose from!! I realllly need to clean out my closet (is doesn’t close). I want to go to for dim sum (it’s been over a month). That exhibit with the slide at the New Museum is closing soon (an indoor slide. for adults. seriously). I want to try out a new recipe and enjoy a nice bottle of wine (thank you Pinterest and wine of the month club!) There’s a jazz festival downtown!? (http://www.winterjazzfest.com/tickets.html) Is there ever such a thing as no plans? How can I do nothing when the world is filled with things to accomplish and experience and EAT!? I retract my statement. This weekend I have a plan to make perfect plans. I will strike a perfect balance between productive and fun. I will sleep late and accomplish something. Nothing is set in stone, I’ll do as I please. A plan to make vague plans?! Happy weekend merry readers!

P to the S: I went to see How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying on Broadway this week with new leads Darren Criss and Beau Bridges. The show is beyond fabulous... if you are a lover of musicals I’d rate it as a must see (while dreamy Gleek Darren Criss is in it if you can score a ticket:) xoxo.

Hump Day Distractions

Today’s Hump Day Distractions are super sized for a) those on vacation with lots of time to smile AND b) those stuck at work and in need of a smile. Enjoy!

* My favorite thing about the week between Christmas and New Years: countdowns and MASHUPS! This is a killer pop music mashup courtesy of my awesome sis. (Warning- there’s a (completely unnecessary) expletive at the very end of the video)
* Friendliest member of the animal kingdom (that's not animated) that I've ever seen
* “I left the remote on the other side of the room” and other truly hysterical first world problems
* Are you heading to the slopes this winter? Here are a few sure to be chic suggestions for my fellow ski bunnies (via Snippet&Ink) * An entire year's worth of New York minutes (via NY Times)
* My hoodie-loving Dr. H received one of these from yours truly this Channuka. The possibilities for use are endless.
* Did your Christmas involve anything this amazing?
* Hosting a soiree this New Year’s Eve? Here’s everything you need to know about wine etiquette (via CupofJo)
