Flying penguin!

Today has been a real doozy of a day, but thankfully this incredible photo and video from National Geographic photographer Paul Nicklen seems like the perfect antidote. Check out just how penguins propel themselves to the surface (creating the stunning image above) here:
(It gets super cool around 1:20)

And if you're in NYC, you can hear more amazing stories from Paul tomorrow night at the NYU Skirball Center (more info HERE). I can't make it, but perhaps a fellow merry penguin enthusiast out there can?!

Be still my ballerina loving heart...

J'adore.
What better way to send you into the weekend than with something beautiful, lovely and fascinating!?! Introducing the truly wonderful City.Ballet. series, a recent discovery* and my latest obsession. City.Ballet. is an online series of short videos about the New York City Ballet. Everything from the dancers' pursuit of a career in ballet, to growing within the company, coping with injuries and dating one another! It is such an amazing peak behind the curtain (literally!) at my beloved ballerinas and I feel like I've learned a TON about what their lives and careers are actually like.

Each episode is about 6 minutes (perfect for watching when you need a quick break from or work or to relax before bed!) and they're narrated by the one and only quintessential New Yorker, Ms. Sarah Jessica Parker so, yeah... I feel like I've just discovered NYC Ballet's best kept secret because Season 2 just launched (how am I just hearing about this!?), so start with Season 1 Ep. 1 below and enjoy every minute from there!!

Click HERE to watch the entire series on YouTube.

* Full credit and much gratitude to Joanna Goddard of Cup of Jo for doing a post about this series and sharing it with her readers, including me. Gotta give the original discovery credit where it's due!

Ski Bunny Out!!

Bahhhh!!!
Tonight I leave for my annual "I'm in love with my clique from junior high school" trip to Vermont, where I plan to spend three days in our glamorous rental house alternating between snowboarding (aka, butt bruising) and improving my apres ski skills (aka, will 1 handle of Tito's be enough!?). Unfortunately, between unearthing my snow pants and grinding out work so I can be off tomorrow, I didn't get my post for today (or tomorrow) done. I'm hoping you'll forgive me because I did scrounge up THIS:

And THIS:

And a recipe for THIS (click HERE to Pin, HERE for full site):
S'mores cookie bars. STFU!

* Plus if you want a good chuckle, click HERE...
* ... and if you have 5 minutes to spare and want to watch something that will remind you why love is the most powerful force on the planet, click HERE
* Lastly, THESE never ever get old!
Have a wonderful weekend my friends!!

Hump Day Distractions

If you own a dog, you get it:)
1) It's f'ing freezing outside; 2) This is my first 5-day work week in a while; and 3) I'm in the middle of a good book that I really wish I could just curl up with and keep reading. Hump day like whoa... let's distract ourselves:)

* Simple and glamorous (like them).
* Humans are capable of amazing things (worth watching all the way through:)
* A really interesting article about our brains and why they make high school so damn challenging.
* The easiest way to "have" a lion for a pet.
* I'm an ENFJ. What are you
* Definitely the coolest Valentine's Day cards I've ever seen.
* It's freezing here so THIS obviously needs to get made and put in my belly. ASAP.
* I dare you not to smile.
* These people are my heroes. Way too much time on their hands, but heroes nonetheless.

Hump Day Distractions

Get your weekly dose of cooky (not much mysterious or spooky) here:
* Well THIS shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone who’s ever eaten one of her fried, with a side of fried, topped with a little fried (completely delicious) meals. * The last segment of my love affair with Marcel (for now!) Check out his interview with Brian Williams. * If you could go back in time and re-create a moment captured by a photo, which one would you pick?
* I want to own THESE (and THESE, and obviously THESE).
* Here’s a list of 25 clever ideas which will make you say “why didn’t I think of that!?” (thanks Sis!)
* I think the “Sh*t ____ Says” video craze is getting a bit overdone, but this is hysterical and possibly the best one I’ve seen.
