Hump Day Distractions

Seriously good question of the day.
So I'm rollin in a little late with the distractions today, but I'm going to blame it on my all-consuming anticipation of tonight's So You Think You Can Dance performance finale. Dr. H and I are SYTYCD junkies and I just cannot WAIT to see who is going to be crowned "America's Favorite Dancer" (#ThisIsNotAPaidAdvertisement) To get ya through the day, over the hump and straight on to the holiday weekend, here are some delightful distractions from around the web!

* An answer to the tattoo critique "but who knows how it will look when you get old and wrinkly!?"
* If this amazing overnight experience includes free meatballs, I just might have to fly to Australia for it! (via CupofJo)
* Cute, tasty and kid friendly "breakfast sushi".
* Can a normal human wear things like THIS because I kinda want to...
* So freaking creative and cool.
* If it's possible to be turned on by built in bookshelves, I'd have to say THESE are doing the trick. Mmmm.
* That moment when an excellent office prank may have gone too far...
* I like this list.
* This game of flip cup is on a whole other level. #NailingIt

Pack MY lunch!

The creative parents of the world have won my heart once again. Like Dinovember before it, today's post is dedicated to David LaFerrier, the awesome Dad who in 2008 began packaging his sons' lunches in the most adorably creative way.

Now David has somewhat of an unfair advantage over other parents/lunch packers in that his graphic design background clearly translates to some serious creative and artistic talent, but it's his dedication to seeing magic in the ordinary that really blows me away....

David says “The sandwich bags are something that my boys and I share together, but the comments people leave about a parent doing something similar really touches me, because there are other parents that love their kids just as much. And they love them enough to leave a little note, a little whatever it may be… that’s just something that brightens their day when they get to their lunch.” How amazing is this guy!?

David's work has been featured on Sharpie's website and he receives messages from other parents who are inspired by his work on a regular basis. Click HERE for more about his awesome bag-drawing endeavors or HERE to visit his Flickr.

Happy Halloween!!

Tricks & Treats for all!!!
One of my favorite things about Halloween (besides the dressing up, and the candy, and the decorations, and the parties???) is seeing witty/super creative costumes. Once I ventured onto the witty side (devil with a blue dress on) but that's nothing compared to some of these pros:

Celebrity Jeopardy genius.
Buzz Light Beer of course.
She's a brick.... house.
50 shades of grey anyone?
Dunkin' Donuts!!!
And last but not least... Stevie Wonder Woman.

Wishing you a most fantastic and Happy Halloween, be sure not to eat too much candy!!
one too many treats...

Hump Day Distractions

Poor Abe.
I spent most of this morning in a full fledged U.S. Supreme Court geek-out sesh, so I'm just gonna get right to the distractions (so you can get right to your humping:) Happy Wednesday my friends!!

* Hey Mike! When can I move in!?
* A yummy looking pasta salad for your next BBQ
* And for dessert...
* When smart people sneakily outsmart the rest of us...
* A thought provoking piece on new motherhood for all you Moms and Mommies-to-be.
* Move over Kate, there's another lovely lady absolutely NAILING this royal wedding thing (via exPress-o)
* Creative advertising makes me smile.
* An inside look at something you probably never thought much about, but will be amazed by.
* Few things more fabulous than an outdoor movie in NYC.
* Don't be hatin on comic sans people.
* Does THIS product actually work? Because I have a real problem with spilling chocolate syrup on my sneakers...
* And in honor of today's historic SCOTUS decision, THIS Dad's letter will warm your heart.

Crafting = Cool?

Click HERE and to read the brilliant copy in this advertisement.
(Here for Pinterest)
I've always been a craft-er. From scrapbooks to beer bottle cap tabletops, I get a super-dorky thrill out of a good creative project. Sometimes ridiculed for my LOVE of Michaels (I mean who doesn't love Michaels!?) or box of colored paper, decorative edge scissors and stickers (don't you have craft supplies?), lately I've noticed a shift... You guys, I think loving arts and crafts is finally cool!

With the emergence of sites like Pinterest and thousands of awesome blogs filled with DIYs, home decor and party inspiration, it seems like everyone out there is re-purposing, and decoupaging and chevron-painting. Is this a fad? Will I eventually feel overwhelmed by crafty to-do's and stop enjoying all my DIY projects!? I hope not, because nothing soothes me like awesomely arranged picture frames or a brightly colored wall that I painted myself!

P to the S: THIS great NY Times article wonders if maybe all our digital photo sharing (hello twitter, facebook and instagram) is to blame for our newfound compulsion to craft. It's a good read!
