A rant, a rave and some other shizz...

Fact: Carbs = joy.
HEELLLOOOO Friday! And somewhat sadly, the last official summer Friday at my office (because early dismissal for Labor Day Weekend does not count!) You best believe I'm gonna be rollin out today as close to 2pm as humanly possible. Until then however, I've got a few things I'd like to talk about.

A Rant: What is up with Victoria's Secret discontinuing certain styles of bras!?! I do not understand what they are thinking when they suddenly take a style that's been on sale for years and discontinue it. Where are my boobs supposed to go now? I don't want an Angel-lift-push-magic Bra, I want the same damn bra I've been wearing for the past 4 years, just a new one, with straps that aren't adjusted to the tightest setting and still too loose.

A Rave: Back in February I tweeted about Lorde, an awesome new artist who is now creeping her way up the charts. I'm totally digging this uber talented sixteen year old New Zealander's sound. Her track Royals” is getting a ton of buzz, but also check out her cover of the Replacements’ “Swingin’ Party,” her second single "Tennis Court HERE," and this “Bravado” remix.

Some other shizz
Yoga Bear (not to be confused with Yogi Bear)

Someone just told him it's Friday.

Fin.

Hump Day Distractions

I am here to support you too.
Welcome to your weekly installment of Hump Day Distractions where I've got a little bit of Olympic goodness, a unique salad (followed by dessert of course) and more than a few laughs all queued up for you. Happy humping!

* Who knew that the First Lady was so into hugs?
* Despite Bob Costas' best efforts, nothing captures emotion better than a beautiful still image
* Great idea buddy. Great idea.
* Will we float through the air with the greatest of ease? Finally scheduling my birthday gift to Dr. H for August.
* If you're one of those people who avoids salads with bacon and mayonnaise, I'm not sure we can be friends anymore.
* Why stop at bacon? Bring on the dessert! (easy enough for even the dessert challenged such as myself)
* If you like the show GIRLS, you're going to love BOYS
* How does that saying go? If at first you don't succeed, try try again?
* I want to work with whoever did THIS

* P to the S - Bloggity blog had some RECORD breaking traffic yesterday! Many many thanks for reading and sharing
* Be even more merry - follow me on "the Twitter" @seektobemerry (pretty please;)

Coming undone...

Owl not be embarrassed!
So yesterday, after a fairly "high level" meeting at work, I returned to my desk to discover that the middle button on my button down shirt was undone. Undone as in "hey meri, your shirt is wide open and your bra is on display" kind of undone. Instant panic set in: "how long has my shirt been like this?" "Did it happen at the meeting? after?" "Did anyone see my boobs!?" I squirmed and turned red at my desk realizing that I would never know the answers to my questions and I cursed the button for failing me in a time of need (aka, all the hours of the day I'm expected to have my clothing fully ON).

Isn't it crazy how embarrassing things like this can be? An unzipped fly or undone button can make you feel like a tooootal nincompoop (always wanted to use that word in print) and I can't decide if someone alerting you to the faux pas makes you feel better or worse! Last week when I spotted a girl at a bar with toilet paper on her shoe and wanted to tell her, Dr. H got all "mer, you're bein a weirdo, don't do it" and I just kept thinking that if someone let me keep walking around with half a port-a-potty on my foot I'd be mortified!! (Note: I did not approach her and I'm still disappointed in myself about it.) So here's to all those quiet awkward moments when you realize you've been strutting a slightly undone version of yourself... to whomever sees, I hope they enjoyed the show:)
